Frog News 9/21/22
Principals' Corner
Dear Families,
Tomorrow is the official first day of fall 2021! We are already seeing the leaves change colors and grace us with their beauty as we continue our learning here at Thoreau. 🍂🍁
Thank you to our families, teachers, and staff for partnering to support our students’ success this fall!
During the school day and before school, we are a closed campus from 8am- 4pm. If you or a family member needs to access your student or student’s teacher for any reason, please check in at the front doors by the main office. Please do not go to the outside classroom doors prior to checking in. This is for our student's safety.
We encourage appointments to be made outside of school hours if at all possible. We know the need may arise to pick up your child for an early dismissal on occasion. If this happens, please check in at the front doors by the main office and do not go onto campus to find your student. Also, please avoid picking up your child during recess. Because we are fortunate to have such an expansive playground and field area, it takes a long time to call your student in from recess, get their belongings and get to the front office. Please arrive before or after your child’s scheduled recess so we can quickly and efficiently get your child to you. Click here to see Thoreau's daily schedule.
Back to School Night for 1st-5th graders and families is tomorrow, Thursday, September 22nd. Please see last week’s Frog News for the complete schedule. We hope to see you there!
With Gratitude,
Ms. Lane

Safety Reminders
Arrival
For safety reasons, students may not arrive to school before 9:05 a.m. due to lack of adult supervision. Please do not drop your student off sooner than that.
Dogs on Campus
In order to ensure our schools are safe and comfortable for all inhabitants, the district has developed the following requirements regarding dogs:
-
Dogs cannot be on campus during school hours and during drop-off/pick-up.
-
During non-school hours, dogs must be on leash.
-
Scoop your own poop! We don’t want to step in it during recess!
Early Dismissal
In addition, we want to remind parents that our early dismissal procedure:
-
Parent arrives at the office and rings the bell (parent must arrive before 3:35pm or 2:20 on Wednesday to pick-up child for early dismissal)
-
Child will be called out of class and told to come to the outside of the front door
-
Office staff need to visually see student and parent leave campus together
Please do not pick up your child in any other part of campus. We need to complete the early dismissal process at the front office doors to ensure your child is safe and we know where they are at all times.
Student and Family Handbook
Please review the 22-23 Thoreau Student and Family Handbook with your child. This document outlines the rules and regulations at Thoreau. Families need to acknowledge they have read and understand this information. You can sign using the online link here.
