Choir

 

Dear 4th and 5th Grade Caregivers,

Your child is invited to apply for the Thoreau Frog Choir! This year, participation is limited to 44 students from grades 4 and 5. Selection is a two-step process:

1. Submit this application by September 15th. (see below, also attached)
2. I will contact your child’s teacher from last year to complete a brief survey on their work ethic, kindness, respect for learning time, responsibility, and collaboration. Each category is scored 1–5, for a maximum of 25 points. The 44 students with the highest overall scores will be offered a spot.

Accepted students will then complete a Choir Contract (signed by both student and caregiver) to finalize their membership.

Rehearsals: Tuesdays, 8:30–9:10 AM, beginning October 7.
Performances: Assemblies, concerts, and community events (see schedule below).

Expectations:

• Students must attend rehearsals consistently. Missing more than two rehearsals per semester may result in dismissal.
• Choir members are expected to model school values (Work Hard, Be Kind, Be Safe). If a student receives two behavior notifications, they may be removed from choir at the director’s discretion.
• Please discuss with your child to ensure they are ready for this commitment.

Membership Fee: $125 for the year (includes choir jersey). Do not submit payment until your child is accepted. Financial assistance is available—please email Mr. Botello (jbotello@lwsd.org).
