Thoreau Welcomes our New Associate Principal , Ms. Hough

It is with great excitement that I join Thoreau Elementary as your new AP.   I feel very fortunate to be part of this wonderful school community and look forward to supporting the students, staff and families. As a LWSD alum, it an honor to be serving in the community in which I grew up.

Upon graduating from Juanita High School, I attended the University of Washington and later moved to the San Diego area.  I taught for several years at a Native language revitalization elementary school on an Indian Reservation before moving back to the Pacific Northwest to raise my family.  Most recently, I was a Mutilingual teacher at Rose Hill elementary, where I completed my administrative internship.

On a personal note, I live in the area with my husband and two active elementary age children, Hailey and Henry.  Between their extra-curricular activities, we enjoy reading, bike riding, and anything water related together.

Throughout my varied experiences, I remain passionate about, and committed to, paving pathways for kids to have equitable access and educational opportunities.  I whole heartedly believe that strong relationships with students, staff and families are the foundation of student success and look forward to partnering with you, the Thoreau school community!
